Rahela-osman sikder foundation

Rahela-Osman Sikder (ROS) Foundation, is named after the name of Late Osman Ali Sikder and his beloved wife late Rahela Khatun, the ancestors of the designers of this foundation. This foundation is an effort of the heirs of late Mr. Osman Ali and Mrs. Rahela Khatun to remember them and implement their incomplete desires and dreams to build an enlightened society rich in education and strong in economy. The Dreamers of the Foundation believe that everyone has a duty and responsibility to himself, to the family, to the society, to the nation and above all to the humanity. This duty and responsibility can better be served by facilitating education, economically empowering poor and financially marginalized poor people. With this vision the Ros Foundation began its activities from June 2012.


                                                                                                       Background

The idea of having a kind of welfare trust/foundation was initially floated on 27 April 2012 at NAM6A3, Banani while sorting out the details of family reunion 2012. After lots of deliberations by different members, the first committee consisting of following members was formed and given the responsibility to explore the possibilities to transform the initial thought into reality:

The committee submitted its findings in the next family get-together on 08th June 2012 at NAM7B4, Banani where 117 family members were present to discuss the issue. The draft constitution prepared by the initial committee was provisionally adopted subject to review by a panel of legal experts and a nine member Founder Executive Council (FEC) was announced as under:

The name of the foundation was finalized as “Rahela-Osman Sikder Foundation (ROSF)” and membership drive was launched. As a matter of fact, it was rather the very first General Meeting of ROSF and the actual beginning of its journey.


The first meeting of the Executive Council was held on 19 June 2012 when ROSF officially started functioning. Later, a proper Opening Ceremony was arranged at H-15, Rd # 7, Block-C, Niketon, Gulshan on 22 Jun 2012 which truly marked the formal commencement of ROSF.
